Kate Forrester

Illustrator Kate Forrester creates hand-drawn typefaces that intertwine with other elements in her drawings to create intricate works of art. The combination of organic, whimsical style and bright, cheerful colors is right up my alley.

What more could she do to win my design heart? She’s designed chocolate!

See more of her amazing work here.

City Prints

Yes, we’re all really into maps right now. I didn’t think I could take another iteration of the map trend, but then this little company caught my eye. City Prints takes the typical university campus map and turns it into a work of art. Husband-and-wife team Tony and Katie Rodono use bold colors and striking contrast to create these graphic prints.

Anyone who attended my alma mater, James Madison University, knows (and loves) their Mappy. Maybe it’s the nostalgia, but I’m seriously considering splurging on a custom map of JMU (because, sadly, they do not offer it). Or I could just dig up my Mappy from my closet — yes, of course I saved it — and attempt to create my own map art.

Today on Fab.com, City Prints is offering a few of their maps at a great discounted price — $28 + shipping. Hurry over to grab one before they sell out, as I’m sure they will!

Any other Dukes out there still have their Mappy?
