Afternoon Art: Animal Art Contest
On 07, May 2012 | No Comments | In Afternoon Art | By Lane
Thanks to the SPCA of Texas Facebook page, I just learned that it’s Be Kind to Animals Week! You know I have a soft spot for furry friends, so I had to share this cute art contest they are running this week.
It’s Be Kind to Animals Week and we’re having a contest! Ask your children (ages 5-7) to draw a picture encouraging kindness towards pets. Posters should say “Be Kind to Animals.” Take a picture of your child’s drawing and post it to the SPCA of Texas Facebook wall on Wednesday, May 9th by 8 am. The voting will begin that morning! The photo with the most likes by Friday, May 12th at 3 pm will receive an SPCA of Texas Summer Fun Pack that includes an SPCA of Texas water bottle! Be creative and have fun! We can’t wait to see what y’all come up with!
Best of luck!

The Texas General Land Office recently announced the winners of the 2012 Adopt-A-Beach Children’s Art Contest, and a Dallas student took the top prize! Beating out over 4,000 other entries, 11-year-old Clayton Graves wowed the judges with his colorful drawing, which cleverly intertwined a powerful message: “Trashing Texas Beaches Isn’t Cool.”
Clayton, a fifth grader at J.P. Starks Elementary School, will get to see his artwork grace the cover of the 2013 Adopt-A-Beach Children’s Art Contest Calendar. In addition, the young artist will have quite the summer vacation — he’s also won a Caribbean cruise, two round-trip airline tickets, and a class party at Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels.
Congratulations, Clayton!

How awesome are these modern representations of Bert & Ernie? I’m already dreaming up my future classroom…Sesame Street theme, perhaps? :)
Pick one up for just $30 here.
